NZ South Island Landscape Paintings

Lake Alexandrina is in the Mackenzie region, not far from Lake Tekapo. This was my third painting from there as I found it so beautiful with the snow capped mountains reflecting in the blue waters of the lake. There were some boats lying on the shore and ducks and birds walking about, so I included them into this scene.

Lake Alexandrina is a short drive from Lake Tekapo and is absolutely stunning with the still lake and the trees and mountains reflected in its waters.

I wanted to see Wanaka in winter with snow on the mountains. We walked along the lake edge, with the sun catching the trees and the snow on the mountains. It was a perfect day.

Featuring Rakaia Gorge, with the Rakaia bridge in the distance. It was our first trip to the Rakai Gorge and Wow, what a place. The sparkling aqua colours of the river makes you want to pinch yourself as you cant believe its real.

Finished this painting just before lockdown. We took a boat trip to see the Split Apple Rock in Tasman Bay. Although the day was overcast, the colours & reflections still came through beautifully when I took the photos, so it made for a very worthwhile subject

Driving along Arthurs Pass, South Island we stopped to look at this amazing view, the sun peaking out and shining on the distant field, the beautiful flowers growing wild, and the mist coming down on the mountains. It felt like a slice of heaven.

With the sunny yellow wildflowers on the sides on the stream and the dry yellow long grasses and the blues of the skys gave it such a cheerful vibe and painting it was a happy experience for me.
